How is the 2nd house read? The classical rules
- 2nd lord in the 2nd, an angle or a trine Wealth grows (BPHS ch. 13 sl. 1-2).
- 2nd lord in the 6th, 8th or 12th Finances decline (ch. 13 sl. 1-2).
- A benefic in the 2nd house Gives wealth; a malefic there takes it away (ch. 13 sl. 1-2).
- Jupiter in the 2nd as its lord, or with Mars Wealth (ch. 13 sl. 3).
- 2nd and 11th lords exchange signs, or join in an angle or trine Wealth is acquired (ch. 13 sl. 4).
One rule never decides a chart on its own: the classical method weighs the house, its lord, the planets in and aspecting it, and the running dasha together.
