Love or arranged marriage? How to check love marriage in kundli
The houses and planets astrologers read for a love marriage, the four links to look for, what KP adds, and how sure the answer can be.

To check love marriage in a kundli, astrologers look for a link between the 5th house (romance) and the 7th house (marriage): the two lords together, exchanging houses or aspecting each other, or Venus in the 5th or 7th. With such a link the chart leans to a love marriage; without it, to an arranged or family-introduced match. It is common Parashari practice, not a verse of BPHS, and Astrojar gives it as a leaning, never a promise.

Aspects as in BPHS ch. 26 sl. 2-5. The 5th-7th link is common Parashari practice: BPHS lists sons, learning and authority for the 5th house, not romance (ch. 11 sl. 6).

What does KP astrology say about love marriage?
In KP (Krishnamurti Paddhati), love is judged from the significators of the 5th house (KP Reader IV p. 171), and marriage from the sub-lord of the 7th cusp. When the significator that brings the partner owns the 5th or the 9th house, Krishnamurti reads "stranger, love marriage, foreigner, long distance" (p. 85). Astrojar's list of life events times a love marriage the KP way, through the 2nd, 5th, 7th and 11th houses.
What else do the books say?
K. S. Charak lists "secret love affairs" among the matters of the 7th house (p. 104) and romance among the significations of Venus (p. 107). On matching he notes that the scriptures hold a relationship of true mutual love needs no further matching of charts (p. 450); many families still check the 36 gunas. The partner themselves is read from the 7th house and from the navamsa chart.
How sure is a love or arranged prediction?
Astrojar has not measured the 5th-7th rule against how people actually married, so it gives it as the traditional leaning only. The check needs your Lagna, so it needs the time and place of birth, not the date alone. And the two are not exclusive: many couples meet on their own and their families then arrange the wedding.
