How is Jupiter read? The classical rules

  • Jupiter exalted Gives its good results in full: wisdom, guidance and good fortune (BPHS ch. 3 sl. 59-60).
  • Jupiter in its moolatrikona Gives three quarters of its good results (ch. 3 sl. 59-60).
  • Jupiter in its own sign Gives half of its good results (ch. 3 sl. 59-60).
  • Jupiter in a friend's sign Gives a quarter of its good results (ch. 3 sl. 59-60).
  • Jupiter debilitated or in an enemy's sign Its good results are nil (ch. 3 sl. 59-60).
  • Jupiter in the 9th, with the 9th lord in an angle Abundant fortune after the 20th year (BPHS ch. 20 sl. 27-28).
  • Jupiter joining or aspecting the 5th lord Children (ch. 16 sl. 16).
  • Jupiter in the 2nd as its lord, or with Mars Wealth (ch. 13 sl. 3).

One rule never decides a chart on its own: the classical method weighs the planet, the houses it owns and occupies, the planets with and aspecting it, and the running dasha together.
