How BPHS describes Mithuna
BPHS describes Mithuna as even-bodied, green, like grass in colour, two-footed, strong by night, belonging to the west, and found in villages. It rises with its head. Its picture is a man and a woman holding a mace and a lute. (BPHS ch. 4 sl. 9-9½.)
In the body of time, Kalapurusha, Mithuna is the arms (sl. 4). These are qualities of the sign, used to read whatever falls in it; they are not a forecast for people born with the Moon there. When Mithuna is the rising sign instead, see Mithuna Lagna for its house lords.

Each rashi holds 9 padas (quarters) of 3°20'. Mithuna holds Mrigashira (padas 3, 4), Ardra (all 4 padas) and Punarvasu (padas 1, 2, 3). Your nakshatra and pada set the start of your Vimshottari dasha and are used in matching.
