When Astrojar suggests Budh's remedies

Astrojar suggests Budh's remedies in two cases. To strengthen Mercury when it matters for your question and is good for your Lagna (Mithuna, Kanya, Tula, Dhanu and Makara). To pacify it when Mercury's dasha is running and it is not good for your Lagna and is weak (debilitated, combust, or in the 6th, 8th or 12th house), or when Mercury is behind an uncancelled dosha in your chart. Pacifying uses the mantra, charity, worship and the temple, never the gemstone.

Mercury's gemstone

Emerald (Panna) strengthens Mercury, so Astrojar suggests it only when Mercury is good for your Lagna: by BPHS ch. 34, for Mithuna (Gemini), Kanya (Virgo), Tula (Libra), Dhanu (Sagittarius) and Makara (Capricorn) Lagnas. BPHS calls Mercury malefic for Mesha (Aries), Karka (Cancer), Simha (Leo), Vrishchika (Scorpio) and Meena (Pisces) Lagnas; there the stone is not for you. Even where it is allowed, only after an astrologer checks your full chart, and after a short trial period. The substitute stone is peridot or green tourmaline.

How to chant the Budh mantra

Chant the mantra 108 times on a mala, ideally on Wednesdays. The full japa of 9,000 is the count traditionally completed for Mercury, often over many days or by a priest. The Budh Yantra is kept in the prayer place and worshipped on Wednesdays. Astrojar's app has a mantra counter for your own chart's mantra.

Remedies support effort; they do not replace it, and no remedy is promised to change an outcome.
